2019 – £5,360.76 for Kangaroos in Brighton!

Wickwoods Country Club, Hotel & Spa would like to thank the friends, members, team, and sponsors who took part in the Annual Charity Event for 2019. Their valued support, contributions and donations has helped raise £5,360.76 for local Hayward Heath charity, Kangaroos.

The principle sponsor of the event was John Billings and MHA Carpenter Box Accountants. Although, our thanks also extends to our other sponsors including Anna and Richard Ball of Floral Image, Jon Hill of Brewers Decorator Centres, Will and Emma Fletcher of Specs Opticians, Mike Knivett of Artemis Marketing, Nick and Jo Rivett of Nick Rivett Sport and Darren Dix of Sterling Financial & Property Services.



Across 12 hours, over 100 members and friends played tennis, ran, cycled or swam for charity. £5,300.76 was raised for Kangaroos, a Haywards Heath based charity focused on supporting young people with learning disabilities.

The event was held on Sunday the 15th of September and was the clubs 6th annual charity event. Since 2014 Wickwoods has helped raise £29,268.93‬ for local charities.

The event organiser and long-standing member Eddy Harding says, “We are delighted with the result and really appreciate the support of members who always rally to the cause. Raising money for local charities such as Kangaroos is incredibly worthwhile. They help provide opportunities for local families managing under difficult circumstances. Thank you to the children and their Fundraising Coordinator Samantha Norgate, who came along to the event, as well as the charity supporters Richard and Anna Ball of Floral Image.”

For the second year running Mark Ross achieved great distances, and this year he took first prize for swimming an incredible 1.48 miles in 30 mins. Kevin Bush took first place on the treadmill achieving 4.5 miles in 30 mins. Jack Grover-Lewis rode to victory with an amazing 5.83 miles in 30 mins! Special thanks to Terrie Kasianczuk who participated for an incredible 5 hours. Plus well done to Wickwoods Spa Manager Zoe Bryant who ran and cycled for 2 hours.

The day culminated with a Beat The Coach Challenge and an exhibition tennis match. Tennis Director Mark Weaver took on challengers, and although there were a couple of close calls, his unbeaten record was maintained. Mark then partnered with Coach Natasha Khan, competing against fellow coach Damien Adams and Wickwoods 1st Team member, Barry Fulcher. A thrilling exhibition, with Damien and Barry taking the match 26-24 in the tie break!

A raffle was also held with a number of amazing prizes, particular thanks to James Ross Jewellers, Janet Thatcher of The Parlour salon, Rod Scott, Alex Tipping of the Fountain Pub, Dominic Worrall of The Bull, John Billings of MHA Carpenter Box, Terrie Kasianczuk of Responsible Travel, Terry Hardie, Jon Hill of Brewers, Nicci Hopson of the Ariel Company Theatre and Will Fletcher of Specs Opticians.
