The Wickwoods Members, staff and local businesses took part in the clubs 4th annual 24 hour tennis and triathlon charity event over the August Bank Holiday.

Members swam a total of 9 miles, ran 89 miles, cycled 179 miles and played hundreds of tennis matches.

Mark Ross who took place in the triathlon swam an extraordinary 1.5 miles in 30 mins, and was only just beaten in the cycling event by 0.1 of mile by Stephen Clark. Kevin Bush took Gold in the running event covering 4.35 miles. Director Lee Goossens along with sons Jamie Goossens and Craig Gaston took to the gym at 2am and then hit the courts at 4am.

All the participants for the event were entered into a raffle for a year free membership which was won by on by Carole Farquhar – congratulations!

In total over 170 staff and members took part in 24 triathlon event and raised £6355.23 for three charities; Whoopsadaisy School in Brighton, Woodlands Meed School in Burgess Hill and  Rossyln Park Injury Trust

Chris Stone (DJ) played throughout the course of Sunday night alongside live saxophonist, Terry Alan. Fortunately Monday saw the sun make an appearance. Tennis Director Mark Weaver and Club Coach Natasha Khan took to the courts taking on all-comers in a beat the coach finale challenge. Several of the clubs top playing members took part. Chris Revees from Sponsor Carpenter Box stepped up and despite several close calls the coaches left the courts victorious after an hour of defence.

The day ended with a raffle featuring superb prices. To prizes included a £250 voucher from James Ross Jewellers, tickets to the 1901 Club at Brighton Amex from Laurence Sprey of Ashtons Pharmacy, £300 worth of John Lewis vouchers from Rod Scott of Aircraft Golfing Society and a golf prize courtesy of David Walker at Sutton Green Golf Club.
