Group classes to suit all ages and abilities

Exercise classes

We offer a range of exercises classes for members. From strengthening Pilates classes to high intensity circuit training, each session provides you with the opportunity to work out in a supportive, motivational environment and offers guidance around how to achieve your fitness goals.

The majority of our classes are suitable for all members with a reasonable level of fitness. However, if you're unsure about which classes would be best suited to you, then please get in touch - we'd be happy to help.

  • Balance and stability

    Utilising a mixture of hand weight and body weight exercises, we will explore multiple ways to increase strength, coordination, balance and flexibility. It will look at both basic and more advanced balances so there is something for all abilities.

  • Barre

    Barre sculpt

    This class is a fusion of ballet, Pilates and yoga. Incorporating the strengthening aspect of Pilates, the focus of yoga, and the grace and discipline of ballet, this class is a total body workout that will sculpt and tone every inch of the body. Barre sculpt is a low impact, dynamic, moderate intensity workout choreographed to music. May include equipment such as resistance bands and weights.

    Barre flow

    Similarly to barre sculpt, this class combines principles from yoga, Pilates and ballet. However, this class is lower impact and may incorporate equipment such as light weights and Pilates balls.

    A 30-minute Barre Sculpt class.

  • BodyBlitz

    A 60-minute high intensity body conditioning class. The class begins with 15 minutes of High Intensity Interval training (HIIT) followed by 30 minutes of weighted body conditioning work. It ends with 15 minutes of stretching and a cool down. This class is fantastic for improving cardiovascular fitness, muscle strength and toning.

  • Boxing


    A high intensity 1-hour boxing class providing a cardio workout while teaching the technique for focus pad workouts. Includes coaching on punch techniques, pad work, defensive movements, and footwork. Great for improving your cardio, speed, accuracy, and power.

    Boxing - The basics

    This short session is the prelude to our popular boxing class with our in-house instructor, Rich. This session is for those who have not attended this class before, and will coach you through the basics in punch techniques, stance, and pad holding.

  • BoxFit

    A challenging 45-minute high intensity class. It incorporates training methods from boxing, including drills, abdominal work and skipping. A fun workout that will improve cardiovascular fitness and tone muscles.

  • Circuits

    Circuits is a class that involves a combination of high energy aerobic and resistance exercises that are easy to follow and tailored to all levels of ability. The exercises are divided into individual training stations with rest periods between each station and after every full circuit of exercises.

  • Conditioning

    Conditioning is a class designed to improve body tone and strength. Participants will use a combination of small hand weights and resistance bands with floor work for a complete head-to-toe workout.

  • 50+ Conditioning

    This is a slightly lighter conditioning class designed to improve all over body tone and muscular strength.

  • Core fitness

    Using a variety of different exercises, such as from crunches and planks, as well as equipment including stability balls and kettlebells, this class focusses on the strength and stability of the core.

  • DanceFit

    A class for the funky, fit and fabulous who are all about having fun. It works a little like old-school aerobics where each move is broken down and built up gradually into short routines. Our favourite part of this class is the playlist - full of songs you’ll know and be able to sing-along to.

  • 50 + DanceFIT

    A fun, low impact, cardio dance class designed to improve aerobic fitness.

  • Fitball

    Fitball is a fun group exercise class for all that is suitable for all abilities. The class uses core stability balls to enhance posture, core strength, and balance.

  • Glide

    This class involves the use of gliders - two discs that can be used on hands or feet to create a whole variety of different exercises. It is a full body workout that will challenge your core and joint strength whilst also helping you to achieve a leaner, more toned physique.

  • Legs, bums, tums

    A 30-minute class that targets the legs, glutes and abdominals. This class works you hard with a variety of different exercises using resistance bands and free weights.

  • Meditation

    Sound bath meditation

    Therapeutic sound baths using gongs, Himalayan singing bowls, chimes, drums and other percussion instruments are used to relax the body and mind and induce a state similar to meditation or deep sleep. This session will offer a short introduction, a couple of guided meditations, a sound bath experience, and time for reflection at the end.

    Relax and meditate

    In this class we learn ways to calm mind and body, cultivate wellbeing and awareness, and allow the body to benefit from exercise and activity. We’ll practice a number of different relaxation and meditation techniques which can be applied in our everyday lives. The class starts with gentle movement, followed by meditation. Suitable for complete beginners and the more experienced.

  • Pilates


    Pilates is designed to elongate, strengthen and restore the body’s balance. Pilates can be beneficial for everyone, regardless of age and fitness levels. Classes focus on low impact exercises that target the whole body to re-educate and restore it to optimum muscular and skeletal function.

    Dynamic Pilates

    This class flows at a quicker pace to the other Pilates classes we offer. Dynamic Pilates is suitable for all ages and abilities, as exercises are gradually built up with each participant encouraged to work at their own level. Along with moving at a quicker pace, this class also incorporates equipment such as soft balls, light free weights and resistance bands.

    Beginners Pilates

    An introduction to Pilates that will break down the Pilates terminology and the five fundamentals. A must for first timers.

    Senior Pilates

    A version of our very popular Pilates classes with a slightly gentler pace. Pilates can be beneficial for everyone, regardless of age and fitness levels, and can elongate, strengthen and restore the body to balance.

    Pilates technique

    This class is suitable for both beginners and those with Pilates experience. Each week, we will break down various Pilates exercises to offer an in-depth understanding of what each exercise is trying to achieve. You will also discover ways to progress and regress the exercise, which will be useful if you choose to attend our other Pilates classes.

  • Pump and tone

    Pump and tone is a dynamic class that combines high repetition weight training with aerobic conditioning. It will tone and condition your body, help you to lose weight, and ultimately change your body shape in record time.

  • Qigong

    Qigong, pronounced “chee gong,” has similar roots to Tai Chi and involves carrying out a series of simple movements slowly and mindfully. Practised originally in China for centuries, the movements promote health and wellbeing, with positive effects on flexibility, coordination and a number of health conditions.

  • Retrorobics

    A fun-filled dance and aerobic workout based on workout moves from the 80s, whilst taking you on a musical journey through the decades. Carefully designed to focus on all areas of the body, the class combines cardio with toning and strengthening techniques.

  • Strong

    This 60-minute class incorporates several lifting techniques using barbells and kettlebells. Learn to squat, hinge, press, and deadlift correctly while getting stronger, improving your biomechanics, and enhancing your body composition. Suitable for most abilities - speak to an instructor in the gym if you would like further information.

  • Stretch and tone

    Through a series of movements, exercises and developmental stretching, this class will promote mobility, stability and balance. By developing both tone and flexibility in the body, it will help to evenly balance muscles and improve posture.

  • Stretch

    A guided stretch routine designed to lengthen and release tight muscles. From attending this class you will learn a variety of different stretching techniques that will help you gain flexibility and will enhance joint mobility.

  • Studio cycle

    Studio cycle

    Studio cycle is a fantastic full body workout that strengthens and tones a variety of muscles whilst burning a huge amount of calories. Instructed with motivating music and a great energy, it is the perfect class to tone, burn fat and feel exhilarated.

    Beginners cycle

    A 30-minute class with adaptations for those newer to cycle classes. Please arrive 10 minutes prior to the class start time to go through bike setup and meet the instructor.

    Express cycle

    A fast-paced studio cycle class for those who are short of time but want to get the most out of their work out.

    Core and cycle

    A 45-minute class amalgamating cardio and core exercises. This class begins with a warm up on the bike, followed by a 20-minute ride. You will then be guided through a tough 20-minute core sequence. This class is moderate to high intensity, but open to all levels who wish to be challenged.

  • Supple strength

    Supple strength blends Pilates and body conditioning to build strength and flexibility by focussing on posture, core stability and body alignment.

  • Tai chi

    Tai chi is an ancient Chinese discipline practised through a series of flowing movements - the forms. Balance, coordination, flexibility and posture are all improved, and the class can also help to bring about a state of mental calm and clarity. There are two classes at Wickwoods. The Friday class places more emphasis on form work, while the Saturday class emphasises the mindfulness aspects.

  • Yin

    A restorative form of yoga that is slow paced and features postures that are held for an extended length of time. The flow of postures aim to stimulate the channels in the body to heal from within.

  • Yoga


    This class combines traditional practices of Hatha yoga with 21st century knowledge of human movement. Offering a balance of active and passive movements, it is suitable for both beginner and the more experienced practitioner looking to broaden, refresh and refine their practise.


    A fusion of yoga and Pilates. This class amalgamates the core strengthening and alignment aspects of Pilates with the flow and mediation aspects of yoga. Suitable for all abilities.

    Restorative yoga

    Longer held ‘poses’, supporting the body with props to allow it to relax and release. This enables the natural healing powers of our ‘rest and digest’ state, whilst calming the mind.

    Yoga nidra

    Yoga nidra is a systematic method of inducing complete physical, mental and emotional relaxation. It uses a guided rotation of consciousness, an awareness of the breath, and visualisation techniques to bring you into a state of yogic sleep.

    Dynamic flow yoga

    An energetic and dynamic yoga class to a soundtrack of ambient music. Utilising your bodyweight to flow through yoga postures helps to increase your mobility and flexibility through fluid movement. Breathing techniques will be utilised to help you work through the flow which will get your heart rate up and leave you feeling energised.

    Rise and shine yoga

    A morning yoga session designed to help you unwind, open up, and create freedom and grounding. Suitable for all levels.

    Vinyasa yoga

    Vinyasa yoga is a dynamic form of yoga using breath synchronised movements. It includes a variety of strengthening poses and passive stretches to increase fitness, burn calories and release stress. Vinyasa movements are smooth and flowing, almost dance-like.

    Ashtanga yoga

    Ashtanga is a dynamic flowing form of yoga, designed to build up both flexibility and strength with a strong emphasis on breathing with a calming meditative focus. If you are reasonably fit and healthy with some yoga experience, this will be perfect for you. Ashtanga classes aren’t necessarily suitable for those who are slightly inflexible or a beginner to exercise classes, and so we would recommend a Hatha class instead.

    Yang yin yoga

    This class starts with the yang - a more dynamic, active vinyasa flow that will strengthen and invigorate the mind and body. This is then followed by yin - a restorative form of yoga that is focused on long held passive poses to encourage flexibility, relaxation, and bring balance and connection to the mind and body.

    Flow and restore

    A gentler version of our flow classes. This class encourages the body to relax whilst gently developing flexibility. You will be guided in and out of various poses with focus on breath and alignment. A good class for those wanting a slightly more challenging flow but with a restorative element.

  • Zumba

    Zumba is a popular fitness programme inspired by Latin dance. The word “Zumba” comes from a Colombian word that means to move fast and have fun, which is just how people describe the routine. Using upbeat Latin music together with cardiovascular exercise, Zumba is aerobic dancing that is lots of fun and easy to learn.
