The tennis tournament may not have had the best start with the weather, but it got there in the end! Originally due to take place a few weeks ago but called off due to rain, players returned this weekend to take part in the Beginners and Improvers US Open Tournament. Players competed throughout the afternoon on what turned out to be a rather warm day ignoring the overcast grey skies.

A huge congratulations to the winners of the tournament! Jane Maskell won the Ladies and Terence Symmons took the Mens title.

Also well done to Eileen Taylor and Ian Aiken the runners up of the tournament, and a special thank you to the sponsors James Ross Jewellers.

Why not join in the next tennis tournament? At Wickwoods we have a huge tennis diary, with group coaching sessions, social tennis sessions, Club tournaments and our Club tennis teams there is tennis for everyone! Whether you are a complete beginner or an advanced player why not give tennis at Wickwoods a go? For those of you unsure, maybe you haven’t played tennis for a long time? if at all? it is never too late to get playing. Come along to our weekly beginners tennis inductions, you get to meet our coaches and other beginners for a friendly knock about on the tennis courts, they are held every Saturday at 1pm. We also hold a Meet the Coach session, which means what it says! You get the chance to meet our coaches and have a chat over coffee and cake in our sports bar. This is held every third Saturday of the month just before the beginners inductions at 12.30pm giving you the choice to stick around for a friendly game of tennis after. It is also complimentary with your membership which is an added bonus who can turn down free cake?

Booking tennis courts and any of the group sessions could not be easier, they can all be pre-booked online in the members area, or at reception.
